[London Dreaming] Overview

So, I'm doing this What If as a recharge for myself. If it's not your thing, that's cool, mostly getting it out of my brain.

Taking major inspiration from Changeling: The Dreaming with a side helping of the series Lost Girl.

Elevator Pitch: The fae are real, but not hiding in some other dimension. They've been around for since before recorded history, they've just gotten better at hiding. The previous King of London just passed with no designated heir, destabilizing things for everyone and complicating the already complicated lives of London's supernatural denizens.

Basic Concept: The initial action revolves around the Old Bell Tavern on Fleet Street, the former King's favorite pub and a fae freehold (secret gathering place with some innate magic). It's currently managed and protected by Tereza Rozanov, duly appointed as a minor noble by the former King, not that she ever uses the title.

Name: Bazyli the Fool AKA "The Worst Of Us"
Age: 20
Kingdom of Origin: Roses
Hometown: London

Merits: Bazyli bears the standard birthright of his kind. He can speak with Wraiths, and can contort into disgusting but still vaguely humanistic shapes giving him the ability to scurry into dark, tight places and worm his way out of physical altercations.

What's unique to him is his ability to speak at a normal volume, his prehensile tongue and dexterous toes, ability to communicate with spiders and other arthropods, and that he's been blessed with nightvision.

Personality: Like all sluagh, Bazyli has a love of decorum and good manners. Unlike most sluagh, Bazyli maintains such close ties with people outside his own to the point he is seen as a liability to sluagh secrecy. An extroverted introvert, Bazyli does not frequently initiate conversations with others but is comfortable enough carrying them with other fae who don't hold completely opposite values to his own kith. This outgoing nature and inability to keep his mouth shut has gotten him banned from High Tea indefinitely, isolating him from his kith.

Description: Bazyli's Seeming is a gaunt young man with a tamed crop of asymmetrical curls and deep-set blue eyes.

His true form is long and ghoulishly thin, with a wild mane of curls and soulless empty eyes. He only smiles with his mouth closed, and always covers his mouth when laughing.

Bazyli puts in the same care to his mode of dress as most sluagh, though wears many modern and stylized elements in his pseudo-victoriana. Bazyli wears a bowler hat and carries an umbrella and a portfolio bag at all times. He also has a steadfast rat chimera named Roxie.

Bazyli always smells like cologne, perhaps overwhelmingly to some.

Background: In the time before his Chrysalis, Bazyli was the son of two of London's elite who wanted little to do with him due to his creepy nature. It took his Chrysalis to realize why he was so different from his peers.

Unfortunately, coming to terms with his kith did not help his feelings of alienation diminish. Bazyli's fosters were less than keen on his gregarious nature and inability to keep his yap shut and left him to his own devices as soon as they were allowed by the code to do so. These behaviors earned him two nicknames. 'Bazyli the Fool' by more charitable sluagh, and 'The Worst of Us' by the least, though of the second Bazyli would argue they haven't collected enough empirical evidence to prove.

Abandoned by his kith and ostracized from other fae due to his disgusting nature, Bazyli scrapes by as he can as a courier.

[Drake Martin]

Name: Drakmar the Reckless AKA "Drake Martin"
Age: 418

Merits: Drak is not a changeling but a dragon with all abilities that entails, plus the ability to assume a human form.

Personality: Drak is young and has yet to fully grasp how important it is to lay low in the mundane realm. The emotional toll of being on Earth leads him to fill the void with sex, alcohol, and occasionally drugs. He's a handful, to be honest.

Description: Drak appears as an exceedingly handsome Caucasian man in his late twenties, usually wearing a tailored suit.

His true form is a great red dragon with a golden mane running from head to mid-back.

Background: Little is known about his past, but it seems he was banished from the Near Dreaming for an offense against his clan that he won't talk about. In the mundane world, he is known as a businessman and collector of antiquities. He lives in a richly appointed cavern under the Old Bell.
