He hadn't been a mutant in quite some time. When magic had flooded the world, his gift changed. To him, it didn't feel particularly different, but to magic it was all different. He'd managed to round up several more of his kind and they'd taken to patrolling the woods between Maldon and London, dealing with bandits and the like. Once or twice, someone in his small pack had disagreed with his choices, but those disagreements had been settled quickly and relatively non-violently. He put the upstart in his or her place and moved on with life. Now they were camped by the side of the road, all of them looking human and cooking some deer over a fire.
