Vivienne had changed in the hall, smaller than Sam, slim and light but still werewolf. She stood in the doorway behind the red-head, her focus on the pup.

"Give me one good reason not to," she snarls.

The pup didn't seem to be harmed other than a small bandage on one flank. "Because," the man said as he turned around, "This globe contains more than enough liquid fire to consume the wolf and severely injure the two of you. So while I would be dead, it would be something of a pyrrhic victory." He stowed the vial of red liquid into one of his pockets.

"Know not what you have." She growled and leaped for the pup on the table, covering the prone creature with her own body.

"...well, you heard her. Let's see how much you want to die," she says, approaching the man and further positioning herself between him and the other two.

"I know exactly what I have," he said. "And I have what I need." He smirked, "You're actually free to take her and go."

"And I'm not too keen on letting you go either," she says as she takes a step towards the man.

"Try to be at least somewhat reasonable and get growly threats," he gave an exaggerated sigh, "That's why I hate dealing with werewolves." His hand rolled and he tossed the glass sphere straight at Sam's face before reaching into his pocket.

Sam scrambles with her big meaty hands to try to catch the damn thing without breaking it.

She waited an instant, a catch or flames, her next action was jumping on the man and ending him.

For a moment, it seemed like Sam had caught it, bouncing it a little bit. Then it bounced off her hand again and feel to the floor, crashing to the floor with a shattering noise. The liquid sloshed out onto the floor and stained it orange. At the same time, there was a cracking noise in the man's pocket and he began to quickly fade from sight, "I'm sure we'll meet again." As Vivienne leaped for him, she crashed through where he had been.

"Oh, he's been on mine." She moved around the area breathing in deeply before returning to the pup. As she moved she changed, returning to "human" to make better use of actual hands. "He will not be forgotten."

"I'm going to find out what happened to Tereza."

"And maybe some trousers. Trousers would be nice."

Sam grumbles, and heads back down the stairs.

Tereza was still on the front sidewalk. Her body was tense, but she seemed to be doing her best to not look suspicious. Sister was hovering around her shoulders.

Vivienne came down holding the slumbering pup.

"Did you suffer a nightmare as well?"

As Tereza entered, she looked around the house and took a big whiff. "Nightmare? No. I've been out here watching for the vampire lackeys that Sister mentioned." She saw the pup, "Oh good, you found her. I heard the crash upstairs."

"The one responsible escaped, but you may encounter him again. It may be wise for you to go upstairs to his scent. You are better connected in this city."

"Let me call one of my pack. They can bring a van to get us out of here," she said, pulling out her phone as she started upstairs.

Viv turned to Sam.

"I would offer you my clothing, but strictly speaking, I am not wearing any. That aside, would you retrieve the glass jar that held the nightmare contents? I placed it in the bushes on the right, just outside the back door. I wish to bring it back to my Pack. Magics usually holds a type of signature of its maker."

"Just... give me a second, Viv."

She steadies her breathing, as the form she's in tends to be rather self-reinforcing. Her frame shudders, and slowly at first her wolfish features begin to recede. There's a few false starts where she has to marshal her concentration again, but the change soon gathers steam and returns her to the usual semblance of humanity she manages. Oddly her tail is the last to retreat, the rusty plume finally pulling back into her rump as she lets out a breath.

"...there. Now the neighbors will have less to talk about."

Clutching the tatters of her outfit to preserve some modesty, she heads to the back to retrieve the vial Viv mentioned.

"I did not intend to rush you. I simply wanted to share the location and my desire for it with another so that it could be collected." She smiled and carefully shifted the positioning of the very large puppy in her arms.

Tereza moved around upstairs for a bit, spending most of her time in the lab.

"Yeah, Tereza again. I need transport. Non-visible cargo space."

There's a delay then the sound of her giving the address.

"We need someone with knowledge about human magic. I've got lab equipment and mystical symbols I don't understand. There was also some sort of trap that trapped the new girl and the wolf-girl I was trying to help in nightmares."

"If you have to cut a deal with the vampires to get an expert, I'd say do it."

"Yes, I know they won't be awake right now. That's why they've got flunkies to cover for them. We've got someone dangerous here, and it could pose a threat to all of us."

She came back downstairs, looking over Sam and Vivienne. "Van will be here in about 15 to 20 minutes."

"Aye, well I had to shift down eventually anyway."

She ducks out the back door and rifles through the bushes, finding the bundle of towel. She hurries back in.

"This the nasty thing in question?"

"That is it. It held a powder compound that I believe was responsible for our nightmares. Hold on to it, I am sure Tereza would like a chance to examine it at some point as well."

Tereza eyed the bottle and the powder residue still inside it, "Spirits and ghosts I get. This mortal magic shit is a little beyond me unfortunately. Is she okay?" She gestured to the pup.

"There is human magic and then humans who can do magic."

She laid her head against the pup, listening.

"Aside from having enough tranquilizer in her to kill an actual wolf her size five times over, her heart is strong, she will wake."

"Any secure location you may have in the northern portion of the city is fine. We'll be traveling after sundown at the soonest opportunity."

"I think I know a place," Tereza said.

Marshall turned out to be a man who looked like he was in his mid-30s with dark brown hair and a beard. He pulled up in a beat-up cargo van long enough for Tereza to close up the house and all of them to get in before he started driving again. "Where to?"

"North-side bolthole," Tereza said, starting to look Sam over. "You're hurt," she commented, looking at the spots where the silver nightmare knife had cut Sam.
