As Sam's vision cleared, she was standing in her room at her parents house. She could hear sounds downstairs and hear her mother in the kitchen. She could smell dinner cooking. It was something rich and meaty.

"This can't be real," she murmurs, looking around at her surroundings, then down at herself.

She looked like she remembered looking, complete with tattoos and motorcycle leather. A voice came up from downstairs, "Samantha? Dinner will be ready soon."

"But she hasn't... they haven't..."

She bites her lip.

"J-just a minute, mum!"

"Are you okay?" Her mom's voice was at the bottom of the stairs. "I know you weren't feeling well last night."

"I'm... I'm just fine, Mum. I'll be right down!"

"Good, good," she said and Sam could hear her heading back into the kitchen.

"Damn it, damn it, just sneak out, you can send her a card later..."

Sam takes a deep breath, and starts descending the stairs.

As she passed the foot of the stairs, she smelled blood and death like she'd smelled at the club the night previous.

She blinks, still casting a wary eye towards the kitchen, before her nostrils flare as she tries to pinpoint the scent.

The scent went back towards the kitchen, mixed with the scent of her mom.

"...no. No, she's not..."

"Just... get out..."

But still, she hesitates.

Through a nearby window, the moon starts to come out from behind the clouds. It's full line begins to shine into the hallway, which is a bit strange since the moon wasn't even near full last night.

"...oh God, no."

She shivers, trying to keep herself under control as she backs away from the moonlight.

"Samantha? Is that you?" She could hear her mother coming closer as the moon started to enforce its hold over her.

"M-mum, I just... really need you not to come over here..."

The footsteps came closer, "Are you still sick? I can take you to the doctor."

"Just... just trust me on this, Mum..."

She bites her lip, trying and failing to hold back the shift.

Her mother stepped into the door way. Her eyes glinted red in the moonlight and Sam could see fangs descend, "Trust me, dear. We can fix it."

"Mum, this... this isn't you. This can't be you," she stammers, backing away from the vampire.

She only realizes the mistake of where she's retreating a moment too late, a shudder passing through her as she backs into the moonlight and her blood turns to fire.

Her mother retreats into the kitchen, vanishing from Sam's sight as the changing and the accompanying instincts threaten to overwhelm Sam. She heard a voice inside her head. Just give in. Give in and destroy. The voice is almost soothing in a way. From down the hall behind her there is an intermittent flicker of golden light.

Sam lurches down the hallway as she's wrenched into her monstrous shape, her eyes drawn to the flickering.

She stumbled into the family room, the TV being the apparent source of the flickering. As she entered the room, her mother came into the room from another door, brandishing a silver knife.

Sam grunts, lunging to grab the TV, aiming to throw it at the vampire.

The TV refuses to budge, almost as if it is bolted down or if it's was the most solid thing in the room. The solidity of the rest of the room fades briefly, but reinforces itself. As it does so, the vampire comes in close, swinging the knife down in an overhead stab.

Sam howls in pain as she's stabbed, sweeping out a massive arm to try to slam the vampire away from her.

The vampire slams back into the wall, dragging itself out of the crater as it came for her again. Just give in and destroy. You know that's what you're made for. The voice seemed to be coming from all around her. In response, the flickering on the TV intensified.

"Be... quiet." She chokes out, slamming a monstrous fist into the television screen with all her strength.

Her fist sank into the television screen as if it were gelatin. The flickering intensified in response and she could feel a tug on her fist. The vampire leapt at her, knife coming across in a sweep.

Sam ducks down under the knife swipe, lashing out with her free hand before tugging on her ensnared one.

The tugging briefly became more insistent before she pulled her hand out. As she knocked the vampire through the wall this time, the voice returned, Yes... Destroy. You know you want to.

Sam frowns, then looks back towards the screen.

Taking a chance, she puts her open hand through the gelatinous mass.

The hand goes back in and she feels something tugging on it as if trying to urge her to follow. Are you going to leave your mother in this state? The voice was taunting.

As impossible as it seems that she could get her large frame into it, Sam continues reaching further and further in.

As happens in dream logic, something grabbed her and dragged her through the screen of the TV.
