Sometime after the call went out for magical assistance, Tereza's door buzzer rang.

Upstairs, Tereza snuffled to wakefulness and slowly got out of bed. She sent Sister downstairs to check the door while she shifted back to human and got dressed.

Downstairs, Sister poked her spirit head through the door to take stock of the person outside.

The spirit would see a young Asian man in a Doctor Who t-shirt overlapped by the translucent form bearded humanoid spirit with orange hair, inky black skin, emerald green eyes, and a face like a demon's. Only spirits could see him that way.

"Hi there," he smiled.

The wolf spirit retreated and after a potentially inauspicious delay, Tereza came downstairs running her hand through her hair. She had obviously just gotten up, but at least she'd managed jeans and a t-shirt. She opened the door, peeking her head around the door frame. "Yes?"

"You wanted a wizard?" he asked, holding up a satchel that smelled like ozone and old words.

It took Tereza a moment to process that. "Um... yeah. Yeah, I did. Sorry, still waking up. Come in," she said, opening the door for him.

He entered. "Tosh Narumi at your service, for all your wizarding needs," he said by way of introduction.

"Tereza," she said, leading the way upstairs and into the apartment. "We encountered a mortal using magic yesterday and I'm not much for the magical stuff myself, so I don't know what he was up to. We have a bottle that was filled with some sort of powder here, but we'll have to take you to where he had his lab."

"Might as well start with the powder," he said as he followed, "Can you describe the spells used?"

"I wasn't witness to it, but the powder seemed to trap my companions in nightmares until they were able to break free. They also talked about him disappearing, though I don't know precisely what did that." She pulled out the bottle, still wrapped in cloth and laid it on the tiny dining table for him to inspect.

"Dark Somniamancy? Nasty stuff," he said, "No everyone can escape it without help." He carefully unwrapped the bottle with a very useful tool of magic... tweezers.

The bottle itself looked like the ordinary glass-stoppered variety, but there were still remnants of a fine powder insider it that gave off the smallest puffs of fog when disturbed.

He opened it and removed a sample to put in a test tube with a magical reagent and waited for a reaction.

The reagent sparked, but not as much as he would have expected for the magic described. It was certainly magical, but the magic was subtle.

A rather tall, extensively tattooed redhead walks into the room muzzily, without a stitch on.

"What stinks in here?" She asks, sniffing and blinking off her drowsiness.

Then, she spots Tosh and turns bright crimson.

"...I'll be right back," she says, ducking back into the bedroom hastily.

"Hmm... I expected a bigger reaction... must be some mundane..."

Then came the naked redhead.

"Ch-chemistry at wo-why is there a naked woman? Is that a... ahem... werewolf thing?"

Tereza laughed, "Yes, she's a werewolf too. You could say it was a werewolf thing." She eyed the test tube, "So you were saying?"

"About?" he asked.

"Oh! Right! The powder. It's a variety of Sleeping Sand cut with something else, possibly a hallucinogen. Easier to escape but quite potent. Were there physical wounds inflicted?"

"Yes. The werewolf there was stabbed with silver in the nightmare. Not fatal, but not pleasant."

"I'll have to run more tests to be sure what it is, but the effects shouldn't linger any longer than a normal silver burn."

"You're welcome to take the bottle. We don't need it. It would be nice if we could figure out some way to track this guy."

"Alright," the redhead says as she walks out in a t-shirt and jeans, "who's the kid?"

"Not a lot older, in your defense. Side effect of a botched spirit contract back when I first started."

"How's the silver wound doing?"

"I wouldn't exactly call it pleasant or anything, but I'm not dying."

A few calls and some hastily grabbed breakfast later, they were in the kitchen of the house. The powder was still all over the floor where it had expelled onto Sam and Vivienne.

Need your eyes for a moment buddy.
Of course my friend.

"Okay, let's get a better look at this."

He closed his eyes and opened them again as emerald green orbs. With these he examined the nature and flow of what magic was present.

There was magic present around the powder, though it was probably substantially faded from what it had been. There was the remnants of some sort of alarm spell around the back door. Most of the magical concentration seemed to be upstairs though and other than the trap and the alarms there was very little down here.

He followed his senses upstairs.

Chasing the flow upstairs led straight to the lab. Depending on how familiar Tosh was with alchemy, he would obviously recognize the various apparatus and associated symbols. This had a substantially more medical bent to it though, as if the person was incorporating new school with old school.

"It's an alchemy lab, I expected as much from the powder," he said as he examined the equipment closer. "Your man's
primary education is something medical, judging by these modern bits."

"So a 'doctor of alchemy' of some sort then." She looked at Sam, "Did you see if he took anything with him when he disappeared?"

There were no reference works of any kind visible in the lab. There were several syringes, all looking like they'd been used. There was also equipment one might associate with having a blood sample taken at the doctor.

"He was drawing a vial of blood from his victim when we caught him."
