Xaviers!

Tereza's presence is wrecking the calm of some of the people in the diner, but if that bothers her it doesn't show. She nurses her coffee and stares hard at some of the food on her plate.

I'm alpha of a pack now. A pack of two granted, but she could feel the change. Not the lone wolf anymore. Sam had been with her, but Sam wasn't of the blood. She wasn't quite pack. She drains the coffee and pours some more from the pot on the table. Several patrons of the place look at her askance and some of them start fingering their phones as they think about saying something about the thing they're seeing.

Haley's fork broke Tereza's stare at her plate, stabbing at a sausage patty and threatening to abscond with it, a mischievous smirk on her face. Three large plates, practically licked clean, sat near her.

Tereza's lip curls into a snarl as her hand grabs the fork, "Get your own food. I am in the mood to kick your ass again if I have to." Some hands move away from the phones as they realize what it is they're seeing.

Haley barely suppressed an audible growl, her eyes flashing yellow. "You've been staring at the plate of food for five minutes and you're scaring the normals," she said quietly.

"Good. If they're scared, then maybe they won't do something stupid," she says, glowering around the room before tearing the sausage off Haley's fork and wolfing it down.

Haley scanned the room herself, before looking back to Tereza. "Is that really what we want to inspire? Because that sounds a lot more like something out of their playbook."

Tereza lowered her voice to a pitch only Haley could hear, "They don't know that we aren't them yet. And they won't report us to the Authority if they think we are the Authority. Unless you're wanting to see a pack response, that's the way we want it for now."

"Good point," she nodded after a moment's consideration. "Hide in plain sight."

"Some things are easier now that you're one of 'them'. As long as there are no other packs in the area, this is one of them."

"Do I have a better way of knowing whether they're in the area now than I did before I got my better senses?"

"Close your eyes and listen, kind of like you do with your telepathy I'd guess. To me, they feel like angry wounds. They're easier to sense when they're moving in groups, which is pretty much what they do all the time."

Haley nodded, "Good to know...telepathy requires a lot of focus to do well, and that's not something I have a lot of when...well you know."

She poured herself coffee and stared down into it before drinking deeply. "Suppose their minds have a different feel to them that way too. You mind is less...chaotic and wild...than theirs."

"I was bitten by an original. Only one step removed from the source and I've been living with this for years. Most of them are new or at least undisciplined."

"...your trick does seem to have worked, I think. My mind is a lot less jumbled than before you bit me."

"I'm trying to shield you from some of it, which feels like it's working as well."

"Shield me from it? Are you psychic now?" Haley asked, sipping her coffee.

"Heaven help me if I was, but no. You've noticed the moon's song isn't as demanding? That's not just because it's morning. I'm your alpha and apparently that means more than I thought it did."

"I do feel a lot closer to you now...almost like. A sister I never had?"

"Something like that. As I was told, it's in the blood. We are sisters after a fashion."

"I've never had a sister. It's kind of nice."

"You're a nicer sister than the one I shared parents with."

"Remember that when i start steal--borrowing your clothes," she smirked.

"Like they'd fit you," she teases.

"...well. Better than they would before at least. I'm still adjusting to being taller than 5 feet."

"Getting taller, contemplating getting ink," Tereza chuckles, "We'll make a rocker of you eventually."

"Pack Sisters forming a rock band. Do we get groupies?"

"Not yet, but hopefully we will."
