Name: Lisette Allaire
Age: 27
Country of Origin: Mauritius
Hometown: Port Louis
Birthday: December 20th

Power: Lisette's power revolves around sleep and dream. She can slowly induce sleep by making eye contact in very close quarters across clear media (glass, water, air) or more quickly by physically touching their skin. Those unprotected against telepathic interference can be knocked out at a touch, but most mutants or other powered individuals, especially telepaths or other dreamwalkers, will be more resistant and will have to have unbroken contact for seconds or minutes before falling prey to Lisette's power. She can also induce sleep in herself near-instantly.

While asleep, Lisette can ensnare the sleeping minds of others and bring them into her own dreams, where she has total control over what the individual perceives, thinks and feels. Just as with normal dreams, the dreaming individual has no control over this, except in cases of telepaths who are aware they are dreaming or other dreamwalkers. Lisette, however, can choose to grant free will or even lucidity to others if she likes, as well as controlling what people remember from a dream. Her control is normally limited to within the dream - people who wake up from her dreams are free of her control.

The exception is in people who she puts real effort into linking her mind to. She can 'link' small parts of others' minds with her own, planting suggestions in the minds of others that respond to certain stimuli - for example, she can take someone who is normally cowardly, and instil in them an assertiveness that awakens when they would normally be nervous. She could take someone's dislike for a person and turn it into rage, disgust or fear. The same can be done for like of someone and love, respect, or lust. The more powerful a person's attunement to the mental, the more resistant they are to this - Lisette could never truly control another person, but a powerful telepath would be entirely immune to this effect.

A mind that is in Lisette's dream is 'hosted' in her own mind, and so she can pull stray surface-level thoughts to the fore and use them to construct dreams - which allows her to interrogate sleeping people, following lines of enquiry to discover information. She could, in the course of a night, steal a person's whole identity, and has done this before dozens of times. She cannot, however, erase or directly change a person's mind, except insofar as she can influence their emotions and biases by instilling feelings via dream that may carry over into wakefulness.

Once someone is brought into Lisette's dream, Lisette can seek out and ensnare their mind again later over a distance of hundreds of miles, provided she knows where their body is to locate their mind in the first place, and that both Lisette and the target are asleep. To form the initial link, however, they must be within a distance of about a football pitch around Lisette.

Personality: Lisette is quiet, poised, but very fun-oriented. She exists for experimentation, in art and in life. She is flirtatious to a fault, and has a habit of leading people on even when she isn't at all interested. Her status as monarch of her own dreams has led her historically to view the minds of others as something of her playthings, but life experience has taught her to treat people a little more carefully and individualistically in her later twenties. Despite this, she still has a tendency to tease people, in the waking and the dreaming world. She loves art, literature, and human connection, and has a considerable following on a few different social media platforms due to her art and her status as a self-help influencer.

Description: Lisette is a slender, alien creature, with dark eyes and deep red hair. Her fashion sense is figure-tight and flowing, and doesn't discriminate against any kind of clothing so long as Lisette gets to show off. She loves green, and can usually be found wearing a dark-green something or other, though she will mix it up regularly.

Background: Lisette was born in Port Louis, Mauritius, a place that had a troubled relationship with its mutant population. Lisette herself didn't show any sign of her powers until she hit puberty, sharing awkward experiences with her peers around the neighborhood while they slept. Though nobody could prove anything, she was generally shunned, becoming a designated 'weird kid' as well as a target for as much bullying as the neighborhood kids, and at times some adults, could manage.

She had a natural talent for art, which she kept entirely to herself in the face of considerable anti-mutant sentiment. She also kept her dreams to herself, quickly mastering the art of making others forget them in the increasingly frequent cases where she accidentally snared someone into her own dreams. Still, even without snaring someone, they could always dream about her, and accusations grew and grew until eventually she was labelled an informal kind of public enemy. It was around this time in her mid-teens that X-Corp stepped in.

As a tiny island, Mauritius has precious little international mutant presence, but there were a couple of stray agents around who caught wind of the young teen who had increasing reason to fear for her life. Lisette was never clear on the details, but somehow X-Corp got her off of Mauritius and to mainland Africa, where she joined a small commune of well-funded academics and social workers who took on mutants displaced from other areas by bigotry, superstition, or simple unrelated conflict. She was taught to control her powers - more or less - and her interest in art was turned into a degree. Eventually, she left the go-nowhere, do-nothing rehabilitation centre and struck out on her own.

Lisette quickly learned that she could use her power to influence and gain advantage of people. She became a travelling 'socialite', finding herself paid for and entertained wherever she went, keeping her abilities carefully hidden from those who would be able to detect them and relocating the second suspicion turned her way. She worked a variety of jobs to keep up the appearance of independent income, teaching art, secretarial roles, even cleaning when it was all she could find.

Eventually, however, she was discovered and nailed down by a major French corporation. In France, a country with historically terrible mutant rights, one was on the down-low, protected, or dead meat. This corporation offered her a simple deal - she took on a well-compensated position as a corporate spy, lived under corporate protection, or she spent the rest of her life in a prison not unlike The Raft for hundreds of counts of dozens of crimes. This had a number of effects on her life.

For the first time, Lisette could afford to indulge her own expensive tastes for herself. There was no more pretending to be interested in men for gifts to sell, or fleeing at the first sign of trouble. Instead, she began to put away her own savings, and settled down. She began to date, indulge her own hobbies, and come into her own. The entire time, however, there was a gun to her head. She used her ability to influence people to the advantage of the investment corporation she 'worked' for.

Lisette began to accept that this was her life, after a comparatively short stint of around three years. In her mid-twenties, however, two things happened - she had her first near-death experience for years, and she was contacted once again by X-Corp, who had pierced the veil of corporate secrecy around her to offer her once again a new place, far away from here. Assured this chance would not come again, she grabbed the opportunity, and for good measure started laying waste to as much of the corporation as she could on the way out. The entire place went into liquidation as its major players all suddenly became possessed of absolutely terrible, counterintuitive business ideals, losing their passion and drive for the bottom line, and finally acting actively to sabotage the corporation itself.

Lisette herself fled to Canada, with millions of dollars in stolen secrets, assets, and hard cash in a briefcase, under an assumed identity and with nothing to tie her to her past. She began traveling again, under her own power and financial means, checking in regularly with X-Corp not as an employee or an asset but as a protected person of interest. They kept her in the know about the mutant community, occasionally offering her positions which she always turned down. Until, when she was almost 27, she ran out of assets to safely liquidate and cash to spend, and had to finally look into actually doing something useful with her life.

Lisette had, throughout her entire life, seen her power as a form of self-expression, both for herself and for the people she shared her dreams with. Given the opportunity to study in the south of Belgium by X-Corp, she finally took them up on the offer, and achieved a degree in psychotherapy, along with a promising lead in the mutant slums of London for a position helping those who, like her, had been used and abused by a globally anti-mutant system of corporate capital. She took on a position as a liaison between the UK Xavier Academy and the Academy's own efforts at establishing a mutant welfare system in London, and relocated soon afterward to begin a position for which she felt grossly underqualified.
