Powerset: Carlos can control his flow of ki, or energy force. He can't do anything too crazy, like blasts of energy or something of that nature. Instead, he can effect the flow within his own body. This allows him to put more force into his blows, but also has more subtle uses--while he doesn't have a healing factor, bruises and sprains heal faster for him when he can channel his energy there, for example. It also helps him train, as by focusing his ki, he can maximize the amount of value he gets from an exercise while minimizing the strain and fatigue. He gets more out of doing 100 pushups than a normal person would, in other words.
As far as external ki goes, all he can do for now is create a quarterstaff of energy. Doing so drains him quite significantly, so it's usually a bad idea.
Backstory: Carlos has been training in the martial arts since he was three years old, and he's getting quite good at it. He's studied abroad, travelling around to pick things up from various schools and techniques. He has incorporated a number of things into his own personal style, though if pressed, he would describe himself as a judoka.
It was in judo where he had his greatest success, and biggest failure. He won last year's World Junior Judo championships in the -60kg division, only to be disqualified when he tested positive for mutant growth hormone. Carlos fervently denied it at first, pointing to his strict training regimen and awesome physique as the reasons why he won, but science won out in the end.
This definitely depressed Carlos for a while--he thought he was the best, but perhaps he had an unfair advantage over other people. He quickly bounced back, however, and applied for Xaviers University. His grades were BARELY enough to squeak him in. Carlos has trained all over the world with some great teachers, this is just another opportunity to learn from the best.
Personality: Carlos is confident to the point of cockiness at times. People would say that he believes he is God's gift to women, and to be fair, they're not entirely wrong, in that shirtless muscular confident dudes are a lot of people's type. Training comes first, but EVERYTHING is training if you do it right, and Carlos loves to do things right.
