Power: This ability is known as pheromone rage empowerment. The ability has a trigger. So long as a threat is present or so long as Marcus' life is threatened he can become a pure incarnation of a raging testosterone pumped destruction machine. Marcus essentially becomes a berserker. There is a high level of pain tolerance that exists almost to the point of not feeling pain at all while in this triggered state of mind. While it is easy to see why some would consider this is a maniac's transformation nothing could be further from the truth. Marcus is simply more aggressive and has little to no concern about his own well being and certainly doesn't care about whomever is a threat or trying to kill him. He doesn't possess superhuman strength while triggered. Instead he has super powered strikes and can block just as well. No, he can't lift a car but he can punch a car and cause it go tumbling as if an elephant was the equivalent of his fist. The same is true for blocking. If someone were to hit him as hard as they could and he blocked that strike that person may find that his skin and bones are just as dense as metal.

There are various strengths and weaknesses to this ability. Many would see this power as outstanding and quite a force to deal with. Not so fast. This power actually has more weaknesses than actual advantages. In fact the truth is that this power is comically easy to predict in terms of what is coming but that doesn't mean it is easy to stop. His powers simply amplify what he already is. He is an angry person and so when those pheromones surge through him there are other side effects. For example he has to be absolutely truthful, cannot conceal any information and is compelled to vent out all prior frustrations. Since he doesn't have any martial arts instruction or training he is a straight up fighter even while going rage machine. Again, this power and what Marcus brings to the table is predictable. If someone is even a novice martial artist they have a shot against him. And it isn't like he has superhuman durability. He has the same body as anybody else. Think of him as more of a glass cannon.

Some would see him as having ridiculous amounts of stamina while going rage. That too is not true. He can operate at higher levels of stamina that he already had but didn't know about. He will even appear to be faster and that too is deception. Berserkers go for broke. So it isn't hard to see why he runs like a maniac and moves as if he is in a feral state of mind. This power doesn't just change his physical abilities but it changes parts of his mind as well. Marcus wouldn't dare try to punch through a brick wall when he is not triggered but once the trigger goes off it wouldn't be shocking if he attempted to uppercut a truck though even then that isn't likely to work out very well. Another thing to keep in mind is that it isn't the super striking that one should worry about. The main concern should be the absolute onslaught that Marcus delivers. He isn't likely to throw just one punch. Expect him to throw many punches. This pheromone rage is similar to that of a feral state of mind therefore he becomes manic. Inflicting the most damage possible is his only goal while in this triggered state.

Personality: He is known to be somewhat of a loner. Marcus doesn't like large crowds nor does he enjoy being the center of attention. Of course he does realize should he ever use his powers he'll likely get some attention. He is known to be an all around nice guy. However, he is from Brooklyn and some people from that area are known to be mentally tough. He is a no nonsense type of person. While he would love to make a friend he is perfectly comfortable being alone as well. Once his power activates he becomes angry as all get out and all of his emotions are amplified. Even without his powers Marcus is known to have a bit of a temper problem if someone chooses to get on his nerves or get violent.

Description: Marcus stands at 6 feet, 2 inches and weighs in at 200 pounds even. His hair is black and eyes are brown. He is Caucasian. When his powers activate his veins will become larger and emit a reddish glow.

Background:
While some had the easy life Marcus grew up in a rough neighborhood. It's not hard to figure out why the kid had to learn to fight and fast. The tough streets of New York were unforgiving. Those who were weaker were either bullied, forced to join gangs from fear or avoided trouble as much as possible. Since his father was a hard nosed man who worked in construction Marcus was always given the tough love treatment. It was his dad who taught him how to fight. If Marcus got beaten up and came home without getting revenge his father would punish him. While the parenting was certainly questionable the result was not up for debate. Marcus became a rough neck kid who learned early how to defend himself. His father was tough on the kid because Marcus had lost his mother shortly after she gave birth to him. It appeared his dad blamed him for what happened to his mom.

In the neighborhood he grew up in drugs were a big problem. His dad kept him away from the substances as much as possible. Marcus never got caught up into the drug game with selling or using. That fact was important because at that time his powers hadn't yet developed. When his powers did come around the original term that some would use for it was substance absorption. But that term would have been incorrect. Marcus didn't just absorb substances. He took on characteristics of whatever substances he absorbed.

His father was a fitness nut. Having big muscles and muscular frame assisted with construction work and his dad's self esteem. His father used steroids as a get ripped quick method. Not being the most responsible parent in the world his dad would leave the needles used for injecting the steroids out in the open sometimes. Marcus normally threw the needles into the trash. But one dad he accidentally pricked himself with one of the needles. His powers wouldn't absorb anything unless directly injected into his body and even then the substances that he could absorb had to be very specific. Unfortunately steroids was one of those substances. His powers changed immediately. Once he was just a tough kid who could fight. At that point he could not only duke it out with the neighborhood bullies he could even kill them or a grown adult with ease if he wanted.

The first time he raged up was the scariest moment of his life and shaped a lot of his personality. While taking a spelling test in school someone threw a piece of paper at him. That action didn't cause a trigger. After school he confronted that fellow student. He felt instant anger. Veins that glowed red appeared all over his body. If it wasn't for his dad showing up to pick him up from school Marcus could have killed the other student. Fortunately that other student managed to evade Marcus before he could get to them. His dad knew what this was. Marcus' mother was a mutant as well. This complicated life for Marcus and his dad.

Since his father wasn't the best parent figure to begin with sending Marcus off to a school was already being considered a good choice. By now the boy was just turning eighteen years old. He needed to be somewhere he could fit in and be among his own kind or others with abilities. Marcus didn't like the idea at first. Despite his father not being the best parent around Marcus still enjoyed being home. However he did like the idea of going to England at the same time. He went to the school. But of course with a power like his fitting in will likely come with challenges.

As discussed in IRC, this is fine. Berserking/raging characters always have the potential to go wrong, but I trust that you'll make that interesting in-character as opposed to an OOC annoyance.
