Name: Alex Kincaid

Age: 18

Country of Origin: United States

Hometown: Kansas

Birthday: March 13

Power: Alex is a flying brick, having the baseline abilities of being able to fly, being a bit more difficult than most to hurt, and having slightly enhanced strength, with the twist that she is able to draw power from empathetic connections she develops with others. The presence of positive emotions towards her, such as confidence, friendship, or trust, make her stronger, faster, and tougher.

It is not known if there is an upper bound to how much power she can draw from these connections, but distance is a definite limitation. The further she is from the people she is connected to, the less power she can access. Negative emotions from people she has strong connections with seem to have an opposite effect, draining her abilities and weakening her.

Personality: Alex is a shy, nervous, and quiet person. She is extremely honest and moral, but often lacks the confidence to stand up for her principles. She hates having attention drawn to herself and embarrasses very easily.

Description: Usually, Alex is a thin, small girl with very short brown hair and dark grey eyes. She likes to wear t-shirts, flannels, boots, and other clothing that makes her look most at home on a farm. She wears no makeup and shows as little skin as possible.

Background: Alex was born to a nice, down-to-earth couple in Kansas and was raised on a dairy farm in the middle of nowhere. She was always an awkward and strange girl, rarely getting along with kids her own age, and even though she lived a pleasant life she was very lonely and oftentimes depressed.

Her powers manifested when she was 16, but she didn’t even notice until nearly a year later. Her lack of contact with others meant that her powers amounted to little more than being able to lift a few pounds more or not cutting herself when peeling potatoes. When she was 17 when she began to suspect she might be a mutant, but she kept her thoughts to herself. For many of the people she grew up with, “mutant” was a filthy word and without the power to protect herself, she feared what would happen to her.

It wasn’t until a few months after her 18th birthday that she found out what she could really do. She was at the state fair with her parents when a small-time supervillain, the Armadillo, showed up. In a fit of rage after a robbery gone bad, the Armadillo was tearing the place apart. While trying to find a safe place to hide, Alex saw a six-year old boy about to be crushed by some debris from a collapsing Ferris wheel. She wrapped herself around him and protected him from the falling steel and fiberglass with her own body.

When the boy looked up, bewildered that he was still alive, the bleeding and exhausted girl protecting him looked for all the world like a hero in one of his comics. And the belief and trust the desperate, scared boy felt towards her was like a battery, enabling her to confront the Armadillo and drive him away from the fair.

The shy, scared girl was a hero with her name in the paper and everything. The event attracted the attention of the University and her parents were approached about the need for placing her in a safe place where she could develop her talents.

I like it, very solid and straight-forward and a neat twist on your standard super-strength/flight package.
