[2] Gene Jubilee

Located on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. The low-income borough of Lambeth has been largely taken over by London's mutant population and is now known as Mutant Town.

Will Stanton wrote:"It totally is! I knew people could figure it out," the manhole cover agreed.

Thrax retrieved his borrowed guitar from its safe spot against the corner and moved closer to the manhole. Squatting, he asked, "So, can I have that stamp now? Also, I need something to tie this guy up with."

Just trying to get my own little piece of the action, you know? Just being a go-getter and entrepreneur. I'm sure we could find a place for you, cut you in on things..." Ryan tried to reason with Robin, putting her hands up to continue to try to 'deescalate' the situation, all while her eyes kept darting around, as if she was waiting for something -- stalling for time, perhaps?

Now that her jacket was off and on Robin, Ryan was down to her white tee. And as she raised her arms, the sleeves dipped just enough for Robin to see something on Ryan's upper bicep -- a tattoo, shaped like an arrow.

Okay, think, Rob-Rob. How does this prophecy stuff work again? It's not, like, misleading but it's stupid and tries to trick you into doing one thing over the other like a self-fulfilling thingie. But. That was Aunt Nailah nudging things in some way and this wasn't her but someone who maybe doesn't know as much and doesn't know me at all and there's probably no nudging involved, just... A tide coming in and an arrow leading the way? No, it was something about things being clear when I understand the sign? Stupid prophecy, you're not helping at all!

"Don't be so sure about that. The Glooze might work best on mutants, but it's not exclusive there. We might well expand out. It's just about getting your foot in the door..."

"Damnit, Ryan..." She doesn't mean ill. She just... needs to see there's a better way. And it's not like they'll stop trying to push stuff here just cause they lost one bag and a courier. I gotta find the ones making this stuff.

"Okay." she says and slowly reaches into her torso to grab the bag and pull it free. "If you promise me that this is, like, a party drug and not Meth or some shit. And that you're not ripping people off..."

He held out the sheet. "If a sewage hatch can be what stirs at the end, why can't a rope?" he said with a smirk. "But, I mean, you're the lead X-Man, you tell me what I do with this guy. Do I turn him over to someone or just let him be, being as how his 'business opportunity' ran away?"

"But to who? I get the feeling it's hard for mutants to trust police and I really don't want to try explaining why I'm lacking in identification."

"Damnit..." Robin mutters. "Don't make me regret this!" And with that she swings the bag forward and underhand-tosses it towards Ryan.

Thrax didn't know that expression. Was there a human ritual for requesting assistance that he didn't know about yet?

"There are magic words on this planet?" he asked, not getting it. "Nevermind, just... please do whatever it is you do with locals that step out of line."

"Will do!"

Rouen, groggy, was beginning to stir -- but two large green tentacles shot out of the manhole cover, wrapping around the gargoyle tightly. He tried to protest, but the tentacles wrapped around his mouth, as well, dragging him towards the sewers. The cover raised itself up, dragging Rouen into it while he attempted to scrabble for purchase, to no avail. And then there was a loud *whoosh*ing sound from underneath, and the cover returned to it's normal potision.

"Life's too short to have regrets, Pink. Gotta seize the day while the day needs seizing.

See you around, Cheesebag. Maybe sooner than you think," Ryan said, giving a mock salute, and then....phasing through the ground!

Thrax shuddered. He had not remotely expected that to happen and it left a bad taste in his mouth. But what did he know what was acceptable in this place. Besides, even if it was applicable on a foreign world, he never gained his Stormsinger authority. He also didn't think Will had any nefarious intent.

Robin sighs and reaches into her torso yet again, retrieving the sole vial of Glooze she'd snuck out of the bag and looking at it. There's two ways to find out what it does, though one strikes her as kind of hypocritical and she shoves it into her pocket to head back towards the portal and the university, the scavenger hunt for cookies forgotten in the light of Ryan's reappearance.

"Not through the sewer! That's an experience I can live without," he laughed.

"Also, not right now. I've got a scavenger hunt to finish and still need to make some cash after that."
