A gutted carrier floating among the wreckage of numerous ships, on top a giant squid and chunk of ice are locked in mortal combat. On one side of the squid's bridge a giant shark dives into the water while on the other end a tiny figure is pulled up by a different shark, flying a giant mech. As the mech fires it's jets to get away a flow of ice crashes down on top of them, knocking them off course. Above it all a small bird dives through the air, ultimately hitting the water and disappearing into the waves.
One of the lifeboats heads right for Tosh, coincidentally the one Sam is on who may or may not have played a part in noticing the friendly shark among the waves and directed the boat to pick him up. Finally able to warn everybody else the boat speeds away from the carrier towards the handful of supply vessel on the horizon. Behind them they can see the Mech try to lift off while tethered by ice, making very little headway while underneath, by now encased by ice, the command module of the Architeutis begins to glow. A couple of breathless seconds later the bubble of energy goes critical and detonates into a perfect sphere of energy. The shockwave tosses up a wall of water as energy expands and obliterates what is left of the Kuznetsov. Ice instantly melts into steam and the Mech manages to break free at last, just ahead of the explosion. It quickly catches up with them, sections of it glowing with absorbed energy while other parts melt away as the whole thing is thrown into the air and away from the boats, disappearing behind the blast. Most of the explosion seems to be forced upwards by being partially submerged, which probably saves the lifeboats from being blown apart by the reactor's detonation.
They're still hit by the shockwave, knocking them forward and almost capsizing the vessel but somehow remains afloat and by the time it stop rocking the explosion has run it's course. Where the carrier was only tumultuous water and a massive cloud of smoke remain while here and there bits of molten metal hit the water. The lifeboats continue heading away from what is likely now a heavily irradiated patch of water, still pulling the occasional sailor out of the water, even if more often than not they are no longer moving. One of the bodies retrieved is burned pretty badly though even without the eyepatch she's still recognizable. Barely. The atmosphere is more than a little somber all the way to the supply fleet. No one is really in charge at the moment with the Admiral presumed dead as well, though some are insisting to wait at least a couple hours while a few water-breathing mutants volunteer to search for her.
