Ashlie looks at Isolde for a while. Which is kind of unsettling, considering she doesn't blink, her processes apparently preoccupied with something. Below them, algorithms churn trying to discern meaning in the illogical. It's not that Ashlie is incapable of philosophical or metaphorical thinking, quite the opposite, but the themes she's dealing with here for some reason keep circling back to Dr. Minamida and she can't seem to trace the path the programming takes. She's not used to being reminded of something without having consciously drawn the connection herself.
"Fire stolen from the gods. Consciousness and ingenuity that were... granted..." Usually Ashlie's pauses in speech are deliberate. This one is not. She was given those things very deliberately. Of course no one granted them to humans. They inherited them from evolutionary pressure and random chance. Of course there's no such thing as truly random chance. Only quantum states and collapsing of probabilities into distinct universal frequencies. She knows these things, but even now most humans would struggle to. A hundred, a thousand years back and they'd only see the effects. Shadows on the cave wall. Werewolves and demons.
"I will accept that we use different terms. What you call Lycantrophy I see as a transmittable shapeshifting property affected by possibly psychological or gravitational effects. What you call the ending of the cycle might be instability in the matrices of the quantum foam forming our local spacetime."
