Freak Pride

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as classroom space for the University. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for University students on a meal plan. The old library has been bolstered with college textbooks.

Shari chuckles as the eyes (save for the two 'normal' ones) fade back into her body. "Nah. Although this bug carapace ain't exactly great for feeling things to begin with." she says and raps her chitinous knuckles on the table.

Colette shook her head. "No, I would consume it eventually, so I would only resemble pâte de fruits for a short time. And really, would you enjoy eating chalk? Ugh." Colette stuck out her tongue at the idea, it the same red jelly material as the rest of her.

"Oh, I suppose you were not here for Halloween, no? I believe zat I may have a picture..." Colette felt around in her purse for her mobile, taping it a few times with a gloved hand before presenting her camera to Shari. In the picture Colette was dressed in some sort of red latex bodysuit complete with gloves and feet, extending all the way to her neck. Black spots had been painted on, and she wore a matching domino mask. On her arm was Basil, dressed as a a rather stylish interpretation of Death.

Colette gave pause as she was given the task of trying to explain a holiday that she herself was not terribly familiar with outside of what she'd seen on television. Apart from cities like Limoges, the holiday wasn't really celebrated in France and hadn't been widely celebrated in Germany until after her father had moved to France.

"Ah, it is... different in many cultures, but it is a holiday, a day of celebration. Children and adults dress up in costume, ze children go door to door and ask for treats, adults have zeir homes decorated to be scary.... spooky is ze word? It is a celebration of zings zat are spooky, yes. And an excuse to have a good time."

Colette shifted in her seat, the effect of her stretched out suit having an effect on her standard look, she had been forced to let out her skirts a bit. "It is an ongoing process, but it is working better every time. I am hopeful zat in a year or two I will be able to sleep normally in a bed wizout it... but I may be too ambitious."

"I zink zat even ze British enjoy a little dress-up on occasion." Colette offered in a way of consolation. "Oh, a convention is... an event where people wiz similar interests get togezer to meet creators, attend panels, and buy stuff related to ze zings zey like. Like... comic books, or some television shows."

Colette found herself at an absolute loss as to how to explain a convention to Shari, she simply couldn't think of any means of describing it that wouldn't just be more confusing. So she jumped at the chance to steer the subject away instead.

"Oh? What kinds of music?"

"Well... yes! Also ze country zey are from, zeir sound, zeir... content? Ahm..." Colette thought of the only thing she could liken the variety of music to.

"Oh! It is similar to how zere are many different kinds of food, yes? If you go to an Italian restaurant and zen an Indian one, you will be given many different choices with vastly different flavours and ingredients, and some you will prefer more zan ozers because of your own tastes and ze chefs preparing zem. But it is all food in ze end."
