In My... Ashlie's Room

Previously the lodgings of the late Lady Braddock, the Dower House fell into disuse for a number of years, particularly after Braddock Manor passed to Brian himself. Since the arrival of the University, it has been renovated into an administrative building as well as faculty and staff housing on the second floor.

In My... Ashlie's Room

Postby Natalie Denisov » Fri Mar 09, 2018 7:10 pm

Natalie had sat around the infirmary until the staff had chased her out. Deciding that she should at least keep the body charged, if nothing else, she got up to go find a means to do that. Reasoning quickly told her that two locations probably had proper locations for that. One was the Point and Ashlie didn't want her there. The other was Ashlie's quarters in Dower House, which this body probably had the right access to get into. So with a quick walk, Natalie headed to Dower House, taking the stairs up to find Ashlie's 'home'.

Ashlie's apartment is spartan to say the least. It has all the trappings of a regular place, pictures on the walls (mostly abstract art), furniture (perfectly straight and clean), kitchen appliances and dishes sitting on immaculate counters and behind glass-door cabinets, all completely untouched and pristine. Keeping up appearances for an audience of none. She finds a charging station set into the wall of the bedroom, a plug on a cable that pulls out of the wall although it's not immediately obvious where to plug it in.

Code: Select all
>> "The charge-port is at the base of the head, there's a seam in the skin along the hairline."

she receives a ping over the apartment's network.

That startles her briefly, but she should have imagined Ashlie would have a smart-home style set-up with some redundancies. She takes the charging cable and reaches back. It takes her a few fumbling moments to find the seam, but eventually she does and gets the cable plugged into the charging port. She stretches out on the bed, mentally watching the charging counter increment and wondering what she's supposed to do while she's not supposed to do anything.

Code: Select all

comes a follow-up packet. Apparently Ashlie took note of where she'd gone but not any of the details of what happened inside.

They have their hands full right now. Best they can say at the moment is that the body's still alive. No breathing assistance necessary so autonomic's probably intact. They're starting to discuss expert(s) from and/or transport to Muir.

Natalie can tell that there is in fact some kind of diagnostics process running, initiated by the charging cable connecting her more directly to the network. She can also get a vague impression of Ashlie, surrounded by data connections that provide numerous but distant windows into the world, many of which are made worse by the surrounding network still being in the process of tedious but steady repair.
