"I understand that issue. What I don't understand is why it is more acceptable for a student to sleep on a park bench tonight because the school administration has misplaced the documentation it had previously collected. You have the equivalent of sworn affidavits from the teachers, the word of another student who is on the records, and soon the woman's passport. I would argue that to deny her a room tonight, the burden of proof falls on you, not on me. And you not being able to find the documents you're looking for is not proof that they don't exist, since you previously admitted that the system was a mess. We as students understand that this is difficult, and are trying to be as accommodating as we can. All we ask in return is that you be as equally accommodating during this process."
Victor was being frustratingly calm as he looked up from his phone and made his case.
