"It's being able to have contrary and conflicting ideas at the same time.
Like....uh, geez, good metaphor for you, uh...
Like. If I'm...a printer, right? If I'm being a printer, I want to be a printer. But if my friends see me as their friend, they're hesitant to use me. Natalie, for example, saw me doing just that and ran to save me, essentailly. Something like that. Long and complicated and frankly boring story. But if my friends see me as the printer, they're not likely to talk to me about how my day's going, or bitch about the new headmaster, or hang out and watch TV. You don't do that with printers.
The ability to keep both concepts in one's head at one time is...rare. Like, I've never met someone who could hit that balance. Ever, and I've been around the block a few times. Everyone leans too hard in one way or the other. So I tend to err on the side of being human, because that alienates the people I care about less."
